Blending Perfumes Versus Layering?

While perfume layering involves stacking fragrances, perfume blending invites you to become the creator of your unique signature scent. By harmonising different perfume accords, you can consistently craft a one-of-a-kind fragrance that reflects your individual style and mood—one that can be recreated again and again.

Perfume blending is a hands-on, mindful experience that’s not only fun but also fosters a deeper connection to your fragrance. It allows you to express your individuality through a truly bespoke olfactory journey.

FAQ'S

How many perfumes can I make?

You can make x4 30ml bottles of perfume if you use all the blending liquid. However in reality we know this isn't always the case, so we have priced the blending set accordingly assuming you don't use all 120ml of 4 blending accords as final perfume. Whilst the atomiser bottle holds 30ml, we suggest you dont always fill your bottle to the top; this allows you to experiment with a few more personalised options. For example you could make x5 bottles filled to 20ml, and still allow for some wastage. In the end the choice is yours.

What are 'building blocks'?

These are essentially mini Eau de Toilette perfumes (alcohol based), and if you wanted you could wear them individually, if you wanted. Each contains between 10-15 different aromatic ingredients, they have been created to blend together and make perfume personalisation more intuitive. The final result a more complex and interesting final perfume.

What if I dont like what I create?

It is natural and expected that any creator will make mistakes - perfumery is no different, it's part of the creative journey. We suggest you start blending combinations in tiny amounts, using your calibrated pipettes to measure 0.2ml at a time. If you dont like the result you are discarding <1ml of liquid at a time. You only scale up to larger quantities when you are happy.

How many accords should I use in each perfume?

As many or as little as you want! We suggest experimenting with 2 together first, then adding a 3rd; when you have got the hang of it all 4. Your set includes a card with a couple of recipes to get you started too.

How long will my perfumes last?

Because we use so many natural ingredients you will find your perfumes don’t last as long as more synthetic based perfumes. Natural ingredients have a unique beauty of their own: changing over time and harmonizing on the skin. We feel love the subtly and ‘natural-ness’ of naturally derived ingredients, so believe these compromises are more than worth it!

On the skin?
- Between 3-8hrs. This depends on the amount of each accord you use, as individual ingredients have different evaporation times. All accords have a mix of top (lighter), heart (middle) and base (heavier) notes, to help balance your perfume experience.

What about shelf life?
- Just like an artisan loaf versus processed bread, natural ingredients have a shorter shelf life 12-18 months. They are also sensitive to heat and sunlight to try to store in a cool dark place when possible, to help maximise their life.

Why aren't your perfumes 100% natural?

We love ‘naturals’ but these are not always the affordable, sustainable, or safest option, if you want to offer a wide range of fragrance profiles. All our ingredients comply with International Fragrance Standards, which restrict some natural ingredients due to their potential sensitizing nature on the skin.
